Strawberry-Peach-Basil Mojito

Homemade drinks are pretty awesome, especially in the summer time.  Lauren and I are always coming up with delicious recipes, and this one is no exception…might be my favorite to date.  It’s super refreshing and you really can’t even taste the rum…deadly combo.  Make them soon, they are great!

you will need:
1 pint strawberries, sliced
4 peaches, peeled and sliced
handful mint leaves
handful basil leaves
¼ sugar
2 cups rum (flavored or plain)
1 bottle club soda or seltzer water
1 can Sprite (or similar)

Prep the strawberries and peaches and mix in a medium bowl.  Add in the sugar, mint and basil.  Using a muddler, pestle or other “smashing device,” smoosh together the fruit, sugar and herbs until very juicy but some chunks of fruit still remain.  Set aside and let marinate at room temperature for about 15 minutes.

Dumb fruit mixture into a large pitcher, then add the rum, club soda and sprite.  Stir well.  Pour in glasses over crushed ice and enjoy!

time: 10 min prep + 15 min marinate time
